Our Story: Born from a Walk in the Rain
We’re Becks and George, the South West London-based creators behind Poncho. Like most good ideas, Poncho started with a problem and a very special dog.
A few years ago, we welcomed a long-nosed, scruffy bundle of joy named Arlo into our family. As the London winter rolled in, Arlo needed protection from the elements (cue the shaky whippet behaviour). However, as we like to use a Y-harness, we quickly hit a snag. Layering a harness over or under a bulky coat felt clunky and uncomfortable for him. We searched everywhere for a high-quality coat with a built-in harness, but we only found "fashion" pieces stitched into thin fabric, nothing that offered the anatomical support a dog actually needs.
One rainy afternoon during a walk we decided to stop looking and start building. We set out to create the coat we couldn't find: a waterproof, breathable coat with a fully integrated, supportive harness designed for daily adventure. After a long journey of design tweaks, rigorous testing (zoomies included), and countless samples, we finally created a product we are proud of.
